Great news!!!

Helsinki has received the recognition as a child-friendly municipality. This now means a stronger implementation of the national child strategy in Helsinki!

This week, the City of Helsinki has been awarded UNICEF’s child-friendly municipality recognition. This is wonderful news, and I am very happy about it. Helsinki is the first Nordic capital to receive this recognition.

The work is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it promotes the realization of children’s rights in the municipality. Every child is valuable, and children’s rights belong to everyone.

All city departments and the City Executive Office have been involved in Helsinki’s Child-Friendly Municipality work. A lot of work has been done, and now it is being rewarded.

It is now important to continue this joint effort to ensure that Helsinki is an equal place for all children to grow and learn.
